Our History:

Longthornes began way back in 1928 when a one tonne Chevrolet wagon carting coal and cattle to markets, started the family business. For over 75 years and through three generations the company has operated from Hebden in Wharfdale, a small village in the Yorkshire Dales.

In the 1930ís the Chevrolet was replaced by a Bedford, and in the 1960ís Leylands were introduced along side Bedford vehicles. The 1970ís saw the introduction of tipper wagons which were mainly of Volvo and DAF manufacture.

Today, the company runs an impressive fleet of 30 modern and stunningly liveried metallic trucks which mainly haul aggregates from local quarries and move livestock around the country.
